1. Machine Learning

    Machine learning is a tool that has not seen a lot of use in social science. Here, I describe two ongoing projects that use machine learning to answer questions relevant to social scientists.


  2. Mathematical Modeling

    Popular theories of decision making often assume there are two systems that govern behavior, an intuitive one and a rational one. However, these theories are verbal and therefore difficult to test. I examine how mathematical formulations of these theories can be used to help empirically test them.


  3. Formatting Numeric Information

    In a series of studies, I examined how to present numeric information in order to increase people's willingness to pay to avoid a risk, to use a prescribed medication etc..
